Had a day and a half visit to Frankfurt at the end of August. The first day was spent at the viewing facility by Runway 18 (the cross runway), while the second day was spent at the viewing facility at the other end of the airport by the autobahn bridge.
The sense of anticipation that was always present when visiting Frankfurt, at the thought of seeing different aircraft or airlines seems to have vanished. It’s all a bit bland these days. Still some nice cargo airlines can be seen and at least the authrorities still provide viewing areas for spectators. Unfortunately the viewing terrace on Terminal 2 now has a 6 ft mesh fence that prevents photography. Thankfully there are still the two viewing areas above.
