A morning visit was made to the RAF Memorial at Runnymede. Here, among quiet and tranquil surroundings is found the memorial to the 20,000 airmen who died during World War II, but without a known grave.
The names of the missing dead are carved in the stone walls throughout the cloisters. Inside the main building is small chapel with a painted ceiling and an engraved window.
This album starts with photographs of the Queens speech of 1953, when opening the memorial, followed by the words carved in the wall by the entrance to the main building, which I thought were worth recording.
